Since my last race, Challenge Kraichgau in June, things have been quite quiet for me on the race front but don’t worry, I haven’t been sitting around with my feet up! After a busy start to the season I took a short mid-season break in July, and used the downtime in training to address a couple of niggles that had flared up during Ironman Lanzarote. With those sorted I got back into training and into the early preparation for the Ironman World Champs in October.
I have spent the last two weeks training in Morzine, France with some of Britain’s top female triathletes. The riding here is brilliant, and the quiet roads make a welcome change to the ones I’m used to in London. There is a 50m pool close by and on the running front, I guess the hills are at least making me stronger.
This weekend I am back on the racing scene, competing in TriStar Estonia (1km:100km:10km). This will be perfect to test out where I am in training and after seeing Faris and Kristin both take Ironman titles in the last two weeks I am feeling motivated! I’ll then return to Morzine for another week before I hope to up the altitude and join my team mates in St Moritz for more quality training.
