Titleholder (25.08.2011)

Paul Ambrose is the titleholder at the Ironman Louisville, Kentucky, on upcoming Sunday.

He is ready after some intense weeks with a lot of races to go again for the title in Kentucky. It will be the last opportunity to qualify for the Ironman World Championships 2011. Paul has already enough points. He has just to finish the race to get a Kona slot. But he wants more than just so see the finish line: “I would not race if I had not the chance to win the race.” His main opponents are Paul’s countryman Chris McDonald and the Frenchman Romain Guillaume who just got second at Ironman UK. Both of them are strong cyclists.

The conditions in Lousiville are usually hot and humid. On Sunday it should be not that bad when the athletes will jump in the Ohio River to swim in form of a time trial. First they have to fight against the current until they turn and head towards the transition area. The bike course is moderate concerning hills but it can be windy. The marathon leads the athletes in a straight line through the city. They have to do the course twice.
