Past weekend Andi matched himself with numerous short distance specialists in Swiss Wallisellen.
Swimming in the local indoor pool did not work that well because Andi wanted to warm up after the race briefing, which in the end was not possible. So he had to push hard from the beginning on to keep the speed of the lead but his body was still “cold”. Surprisingly it worked quite well.
On the 19 kilometres bike course Andi tried to attack more than one time but the other competitors did not let him go. So a big leading group entered the transition area for the last section, the 4 kilometres run which the Team Abu Dhabi Triathlon athlete started at the 10th position.
On the first meters Andi felt the effort of the bike but soon he found his rhythm. Just before the finish line he had a spurt duel with a young Swiss athlete from the national squad. But Andi was successful and he finished 5th overall.
“These short distances and not really ideal for me. That is the reason why I am really happy with the race. I am perfectly fit at the moment and I look forward to the upcoming races”, Andi said after the race.
