“After 2 weeks in Tucson we come close to the end of some wild training and at least I will start to taper on Monday. 2 days ago we rode the 25 miles up to Mt. Lemmon with our time trial bikes for the last time and we also did a run at the altitude of 1.900m. There where still 30° Celsius. That is nothing compared to 38° at our track workout today. It cannot be described as fun. Our afternoon naps were pretty much as a coma and just the smell of coffee or Coke let us get up. But the form of Swen and myself is well. Rachel showed also some great training sessions and it is amazing how fast she recovers after tough workouts. And many of those were tough. Werner cannot be slowed down after he retired and Katharina makes sure that we can move even after the long runs or rides. But she also enjoys doing some swimming or running. She followed her new less carbohydrate diet at least when the sun shined ;-)
The conditions here are almost perfect. The only thing which misses is a 50m pool and it could be 5 degrees colder. Tomorrow we will do the “shootout” again. Last Saturday we also did that group bike ride. Sand on the road made us chanceless to beat the local guys."
