Swen Sundberg will not race at the Ironman World Championships (28.09.2010)

Swen’s triathlon season was characterized by highs and lows. Just a few days prior to the Ironman World Championships the athlete from Herzogenaurach undergoes tough moments.

More than disappointed Swen published that he will not race in Kona. Because of health problems in his family he could not do a proper preparation. With the training he did he will not be able to race competitively on the Pacific island.

His entire season went up and down. Swen tried to qualify for the World Championships in St. George, Utah in May. A few days before the race he fell ill. So he had to fly home whithout having done the race. After some strong races over the middle distance Swen looked forward to his highlight, the Challenge Roth. And again bad luck! It happened the same way like 2 years ago. Swen had 2 flat tires and had to drop out of the race. But a new plan was done immediately. Just a week later he was on the starting line of Ironman Switzerland and he chased Ironman Hawaii slots. With a sensational 2^nd place he not just only won the qualification for Hawaii but he also celebrated his best Ironman result ever. After that highlight there is a setback again. But Swen has already new plans in mind.
