Since Monday Swen is in the US. He will try to qualify early for the Ironman World Championships on Hawaii. Therefore a result under the best 4 is necessary in St. George on May 1st. Swen is optimistic to reach that goal because he could train in the winter months without any injuries and other incidents. He spent most of the time from December until March in the United Arab Emirates under perfect conditions.
The athlete from Herzogenaurach, Germany, could show his good shape already at the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon in March. In a high-class field, which was not inferior than the field at the Ironman Hawaii, he could rank 15th.
On upcoming Sunday Swen will match himself with top athletes like the multiple Ironman champion Chris McCormack at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans. It will be the last test before Ironman St. George. Especially his bike shape raises his hopes to reach top results at both races. He could plan the rest of the season in a better way if he would qualify for Hawaii that early.
