Rachel Joyce’s last race of the season (18.11.2010)

Just a few weeks ago Rachel celebrated a 5th place at the Ironman World Championship on Hawaii. At the upcoming weekend she will do her last Ironman of the season in Arizona.

After she started racing very late because of an injury she decided just after he sensational race in Kona to do another one. Of course she is more than motivated to fight for another great result. With a top place in Arizona she will also collect a lot of points for the Hawaii qualification 2011.

Rachel has already explored the race course in Arizona and sums up the experiences of the last weeks: “I was happy with my performance at this year's Ironman World Championships, especially as my preparation leading up to the race wasn't as smooth as I would have liked. I really wanted to improve on my 6th place finish of last year but knew I would have to have a solid day to do this ..... so maybe while other people didn't expect to see me up in the top 5 I felt it was possible. And it was possible!

I've been in Phoenix for a few days now and been able to ride the course a couple of times. I really like the look of the race: a simple one loop swim, three loops on the bike and the three loop run will make it really spectator friendly. Since Kona I have been able to get in a few weeks of solid training, and I feel like I have recovered well from my race in Kona. Arizona has attracted a stellar pro field and while I'm approaching this race as a bonus finale to my season, I will be racing hard and of course hoping for a good result!”
