Pete Jacobs is ready now (28.04.2010)

After his bike crash beginning of March Pete was not able to train for a while. But now his back! Here is more from Pete himself ...

I’ve had a long journey, from crashing over my handle bars and breaking my collar bone, to having an operation to screw it together and through the weeks of recovery. But it all happened in 5 just 7 weeks time, and now I am as good as new, possibly better.

It was a huge disappointment to miss the Abu Dhabi Triathlon, and looking back at how the race went I would have loved to have been a part of it and been racing such a quality field of athletes in such a high class race.

The rest has been great for me. I did nothing for 7 weeks. I think I gained maybe half a kilogram (thanks to a fast metabolism), grew hair on my legs and chest, and waited for the day I could train again with no worries about the bone.

I’ve had to cancel a few races I was going to do in Europe, but it means I have a much bigger and better focus on my main races. Challenge Roth is going to be huge this year, and Hawaii World Champs will be even bigger!

I started training on Saturday, 12 weeks out from Challenge Roth. I have gone from not being interested in training, and doing nothing  for 7 weeks, to loving it. It feels so good to be back riding, swimming and running. I feel like I have got a second chance to achieve my goals, and am so fresh and motivated, as well as encouraged by the other Team members and their strength through their disappointments, as well as their focus on the big goals. It is going to be a great year for Team Abu Dhabi Triathlon and the World Championships.
