Paul Ambrose wins Ironman 70.3 Racine (17.07.2011)

Just a week after Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island Paul dominated the race in Racine. He declasses some world-class athletes. But that is not the only news of the day. Faris was also the first crossing the finish line. For the 2nd time in a row he won Triathlon Ingolstadt.

Paul has already reached some great results this year. Twice he got second at Ironman 70.3 races. Both times he was just seconds behind the winner. The last time it happend a week ago. With just 7 days of recovery he was again at the starting line of a half Ironman. He tried the same experiment a few weeks ago and it worked well but not that well than this time. With one of the fastest swim times, which is almost usual, he came out of the water. In Racine he had a perfect day on the bike. Paul declassed all the other athletes by more than 5 minutes. And the other ones were not no-name competitors. He beat the 2-time Ironman world champion Craig Alexander form Australia and his countryman Tim Berkel. After a fast half marathon Paul crossed the finish line more than 5 minutes ahead of Tim Berkel and the American Patrick Evoe. Of course Paul was happy with the result which he dedicates to his mother who is in the hospital at the moment.

Faris got some self-confidence for next week’s Ironman Germany. He came as titleholder to Ingolstadt where he did his last preparation race. Like in Sylt he was in the lead from the beginning on. With the fastest time in the water he started the bike. Without any problems he could keep his lead on the bike as well as on the run. With more than 1 min ahead of Andreas Dreitz he won Ingolstadt for the second time. He was 3 minutes faster than at his last year’s victory.
