Paul Ambrose 6th in Oceanside (04.04.2011)

The Ironman 70.3 California is the start of the Ironman series in the US and it is usually a half Ironman race with one of the strongest athlete's fields. For Paul it was the first race of his stay in America. With the 6th place he was more than happy.

Traditionally the water temperatures were pretty cold as the raced started at the beach of Oceanside. The American swim specialist and later winner Andy Potts came out of the water first. But Paul was in the first chasing group with all the big names on his side. On the tough bike loop through Camp Pendleton he could stay on that position. He started the run not that fast as his opponents but became faster and faster. In the end he crossed the finish line on the 6th place just 20 seconds behind the 5th, Paul Rapp.

That was a good start for Paul. He will continue his US race series already next weekend at Ironman 70.3 Texas.
