Kristin Möller talks (22.07.2011)

The Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt is the 2nd Ironman of Kristin’s career. A few hours before that race she talks about here feeling and expectations.

How are you just a few days before the race?
It will be my 2nd start at an Ironman race. I have respect for the race. I did not think a lot before my first one but this is different now. On the other side I look forward and I am confident to have a good race.

How was your preparation? Was it different to last year?
Frankfurt is not just only my 2nd Ironman, 2011 is my 2nd season of long distance racing. I thought it would be easier to continue last year’s successes. I was a little bit too inpatient and trained too much in winter. My teammates gave me some advices and I think I am on the right way now.

What are your expectations and goals for Sunday?
I do not want to loose too much time in the water so that I can win some minutes on the bike. I like the bike course which has a lot of corners and which is hilly. On the run I would like to be as fast or even faster as at my first Ironman in Wisconsin 2010 where I ran 3 hours and finished second. I still hope to qualify for the Ironman World Championships in October. A good result on Sunday will give me a realistic chance to get a slot for Kona.
