Jan van Berkel at the ITU Triathlon European Championship (22.06.2011)

The highlight of the upcoming weekend will be the European Championships over the Olympic distance in Pontrevedra, Spain. But there are other races like the Speedman, the Rothsee triathlon and the Sylt triathlon on the schedule of Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team.

Jan was nominated by the Dutch triathlon federation to race the European champs. Together with 67 other male Elite athletes he will fight for a good result. At his last race in Kitzbühel the cold and rainy weather was not an advantage for him. That will not happen in Spain. His swim and especially his bike performances were great in Austria. Jan hopes to have fast legs in the run to complete a good race.

On Saturday Kristin Möller will try something new – the Speedman in Munich. This extraordinary race should be exiting for the spectators as a mobile swimming pool will be built up in the Olympic Park. The bike and run course will be just around that pool. In different heats the pro athlete will do their best to qualify in short races for the final. The date of the Speedman was moved so unfortunately there will not be all announced athletes on the starting line. Just the day after Kristin will do another race – the Rothsee triathlon.

Speedman was also on Faris Al-Sultan’s schedule but the new date conflicts with the triathlon on the island Sylt. Faris is sorry about that but he confirmed the Sylt triathlon before. On the tiny island in the North Sea there will be an Olympic distance race. For Faris Sylt will be the beginning of a race series. After he focused on his bike training in the last weeks it is his first race since mid of May. His goal is to improve from race to race to be ready on July 24th for the European Ironman Championship in Frankfurt.
