Jan van Berkel 22nd in Hamburg (17.07.2010)

WIth a great result Jan van Berkel started in his race block. WIth a 22nd place at the World Championship Series race he earned a lot of points for the Olympia ranking.

It did not work like Jan wished to but he can be happy with the result. The reason was the swim where Jan thought that he could be closer to the leader. As at other races before Jan had to push hard on the bike and so he lost energy for the run. Anyway, Jan was in the leading group as the changed to the run. But the Spanish Gomez and the German Frodeno where so fast that nobody could follow them. Jan lost 2 minutes on Gomez and finished 22nd.

"I was pretty happy with my first Olympic qualification race. I thought that I could have swam faster but it didn't work in Hmaburg. But there are still some races left this year. The 22nd place brought me quite some points", Jan said after the race.
