Jan and the Netherlands are world-class! (22.08.2011)

Jan van Berkel became 7th with the Dutch team at the ITU Triathlon Team World Championships in Laussane. Before the race there were not many people who thought that the Dutch team would place themselves in the middle of the world best teams. It was a result of hard work they did in the last months focusing on their big goal – the Olympic Games 2012 in London.

The team sprint is a race where 2 female and 2 male athletes do a super sprint race. That kind of race is just before entering the Olympic program of Rio de Janeiro 2016. That was the reason why all nations sent their best athletes. The pictures of the extraordinary race could be seen in several TV stations in Germany, Switzerland, USA and many other countries as a live report. The 1-hour race offered excitement from the first to the last minute.

Jan had a great race. Though he lost the contact to the absolute peak of the world and the later winner Great Britain he was just behind them. Now Jan will have some quite days before he will travel to Thailand to prepare for the World Championship Final in Beijing.
