Great Performance at the European Championships (26.06.2011)

Under hot conditions Jan van Berkel got 20th at the European Championships in Pontrevedra.

After the weather at his last race in Kitzbühel was cold and rainy Spain was a battle in the heat. But that are the conditions Jan likes better. After the swim he was 1 min behind. So Jan had to push hard on the bike which is nothing new for him. With one of the fastest bike splits of the day he was successful and got the first group. This time is also worked on the run course – at least till km 8. He was under the best 13. After that he had to slow down and he lost 30 sec and 7 places. Jan is still happy with that place because he gave everything that day. His next race will be in 3 weeks – the ITU World Champions Series race in Hamburg. There is enough time to recover and to do a another step.
