Faris Al-Sultan’s fight at the Ironman 70.3 in Singapore (20.03.2011)

A week between the tough day in Abu Dhabi and the half Ironman was not long enough for Faris Al-Sultan. Tough he fought as usual and became 5th in the southeast Asian metropolis Singapore.

Faris felt already before the race that he would not stand fully recovered at the starting line. But in the water everything worked pretty well. He jumped on his time trial machine within the first group which grew on the loop through the city to more than 10 athletes. Faris took some time at the second transition area but on the run he overtook man by man. On the last kilometre he passed another 2 athletes and so he could finish 5th overall and so he could collect some point for the Hawaii qualification. The short distance specialist Kris Gemmell from New Zealand could win the race.

After his journey back to Germany Faris will enjoy some well-earned rest days.
