Faris Al-Sultan wins the first edition of the Sylt Triathlon (26.06.2011)

After Faris has focused on training in the last weeks he came back with a winning start.

The condition were perfect on the tiny island in the North Sea – as perfect as they can get there: 15 °C and almost no wind. Though Faris loves the heat he showed a great performance. In the water he could already open a gap to the second one. He started the 2nd discipline 25 seconds ahead of Tim Lang the current German U-23 champion over the Olympic distance. On the 4 loops of the bike course he could increase the distance. Though he was not that happy with his bike performance. He lost some seconds because of the bad road surface. 90 sec in front of second biker, Jan Raphael, he started the run and finished the race without any problem in front of Raphale and Nils Goerke.

The 1st Sylt Triathlon was a success. Faris saw it also like that: “The race was perfectly organized and the surrounding is great. It was my first time on Sylt and I am happy that I had a race like that!”
