Faris 5th in Geradmer (03.09.2011)

Within a strong international field of athletes Faris Al-Sultan became 5th at the Triathlon de Geradmer XL.

The Vosges are a beautiful place to do a triathlon. That is also Faris opinion. He came directly from the bike fair Eurobike with his mobile home. The weeks before he used the same vehicle to live in the mountains of St. Moritz. Faris is still not fully recovered from the camp in high altitude so the result in Geradmer satisfied him. His form is definitely better than last year as he placed 6th with more than 15 min behind the winner Sylvain Sudrie who celebrated another victory. Faris lost just 5 min today but that meant „just“ the 5th place which shows that the amount of strong athletes was much higher than last year. Faris lost most of this time on the bike downhills. „My main goal this year as well as the years before is Hawaii. I did not want to risk on the bike and endanger my preparation for the Ironman World Championships,“ so Faris after the race.

Already next week Faris will travel to Tucson, Arizona. Together with his teammates Rachel Joyce and Swen Sundberg he will do his last training kilometres before Kona.
