Different Challenges (19.08.2011)

The races of weekend could not be more different. Jan van Berkel will be at the sprint and team triathlon world championship in the sport city of Laussane. Kristin Möller and Swen Sundberg will compete in the Xentis Triathlon Piberstein.

Jan qualified for the Dutch team to race the sprint triathlon world championship on Saturday. World-class athletes will be on his side. He competes with the same ones on Sunday at the team championships. 4 athletes from one country will show their qualities over 265m swimming, 6km cycling and 1,2km running. The International Triathlon Union wants to have both kind of races at the Olympic Games 2016.

Kristin and Swen arrived already on Tuesday in the Syrian Piberstein. They used the opportunity to explore the mountains around that tiny village. Their race will also be on Saturday. The athletic level of the competition cannot be compared with the races in Laussane. For them the trip to Austria has more the purpose of training and preparing for the events in September. And they also support the team sponsor Xentis.
