The 1.9 km swim in the sea of Pescara was a tough one for all starters. Because of the extreme waves, the swim course was changed and so the whole course was, for safety reasons, just 100 meters away from the beach.  Swen, who struggeld hard in the high waves, lost the connection to the first group and came out of the water almost three minutes behind.
The 90 km through the mountainous of Pescara had an altitude of 1.100 meter. On the first 50 k, Swen felt very strong and moved up to the leading group. Only Daniel Fontana, the overall winner of the race was even faster on the road. However, Swen struggeld a little bit because of the heat and the missing drinks on the track. He entered the second transition zone in 6th position.
On the four rounds at the beach promenade of Pescara it took Swen almost 10 km to find his speed. Nevertheless Swen finished 7th and gathered more points for the 70.3 World Championship in Las Vegas!
