The preparation of Faris Al-Sultan, Andi Böcherer and Rachel Joyce in California went perfectly and all have now checked in on Big Island.

Traditionally Faris arrived in Kona a week before the race. The island is not a holiday destination but a race venue for him. He does not want to come earlier to keep his excitement. Andi also came with him. They trained together in Santa Monica for the last weeks. It worked pretty well and both are ready for their great day on October 9^th.

Rachel was also in California with them but left earlier to have more time in Kona. It is just her 2^nd Ironman World Championships. But after a 6^th place in 2009 she is not unknown any more.

Pete Jacobs came from the other side, from his home city Sydney. The past races and training make him confident to improve his 8^th place from last year. He showed on the Philippines as he won the Ironman 70.3 that he can handle the humid and hot conditions perfectly. Pete loves to stay with his family before a big race. So he brought his fiancé and his parents.

Beside Pete all members of Abu Dhabi Triathlon Team share a house on legendary Alli Drive near the beach. The first run turnaround of the race will be close to that place on October 9^th. With Andi’s girlfriend Corina and daughter Paula, Rachel’s boyfriend John, team doctor Andreas and physiotherapist Katharina there is almost the atmosphere of a big family in the team house.
